Anti-panic locking system

In April 2003, the harmonised standards EN 179 and EN 1125 came into force in Germany which regulate the use of locking devices for doors on escape and rescue routes. The modern emergency exit and anti-panic locking systems from Winkhaus offer security certified according to these standards.

Protecting lives

Whether fire, earthquake or violent attack – there are situations where everyone simply has to get out of the building! As quickly and safely as possible. When panic breaks out, it is particularly important that the emergency exits and panic solutions on the doors and exits work correctly and can be operated intuitively even by people fleeing the building. Winkhaus offers an extensively tested range of products for just these emergencies, which can save lives in perilous situations.
The panicLock anti-panic locking systems according to DIN EN 179 and DIN EN 1125 fulfil all requirements for a quick opening function from the inside, yet still provide protection from the outside thanks to the sturdy hooks. Suitable for single sash doors and double sash doors made from aluminium, wood and PVC_U.

Multi-point locking systems for emergency doors can be opened in the direction of escape without a key even when locked. Against the direction of escape, the option for opening the door varies depending on the closing function.

Furthermore, Winkhaus multi-point locking systems with panic function are suitable for single and double sash fire protection doors and are classified and labelled according to DIN EN 179/1125.
Important: When installing panicLock locking systems in doors, the correct combination of components tested in the system must be used – e.g. requirements on handle sets, profile cylinders etc.

panicLock AP3 179 und 1125, functions E / B / D

The mechanical anti-panic locking systems in variation panicLock AP3 (according to DIN EN 179 and DIN EN 1125), each with

  • Change-over B (divided follower)
  • Transit function D (divided follower)
  • Switching function E (continuous follower), 

fulfil all requirements for a quick opening function from the inside, yet still provide protection from the outside thanks to the sturdy hooks. Suitable for single sash doors and / or double-sash* doors made from aluminium, wood and PVC-U. Easy installation of the double sash solution by leaving out stud rods or self-triggering, flush shoot bolt.
Winkhaus panicLock AP3 requires a profile cylinder, usually with a cam position ± 30°, with a smooth-running free to turn function or rigid cam position.

panicLock AV2 OR 179 automatic multi-point locking system with switching function E

The mechanical anti-panic locking system with automatic security via two self-triggering hooks and latches in the variation panicLock M 179 (according to DIN EN 179) with switching function E (continuous follower) fulfils all requirements for a quick opening function from the inside, yet still provides protection from the outside thanks to the sturdy hooks. Suitable for single sash doors and / or double sash doors with fixed slave door made from aluminium, wood and PVC-U.

Winkhaus panicLock AV2OR (without main deadbolt) requires a profile cylinder, usually with a cam position ± 45°, with a smooth-running free to turn function or rigid cam position.

Optional: Electric release function via electric motor housing on the lock face plate

panicLock BM 179 / 1125 – fully motorised multi-point locking system with switching function E

The fully motorised blueMotion anti-panic locking system can be optionally equipped as panicLock BM 179 (according to DIN EN 179) and panicLock BM 1125 (according to DIN EN 1125).

NOTE: With panicLock BM, the approved STV battery pack with charging connection 24 V DC must always be used (see accessories – electronic locking systems).

PLEASE NOTE: Only use panic profil-cylinders with free moving cam with anti-blockade function and cam position max. ± 30°!

Multifunction E

Fittings: Interior handle/exterior knob
For doors which must be secured against unauthorised opening from outside at all costs. The door can only be opened against the direction of escape once it has been unlocked by key only.

Emergency unlocking (in direction of escape)
Opens the door from the inside using the handle.
The door may only be opened from the outside once the key has been turned all the way to the release stop (incl. latch retractor).

Opening
Function from the inside:
Turn the key all the way to the release stop and actuate the latch by means of the handle: Access possible.
Function from the outside:
Turn the key all the way to the release stop in order to completely release the latch and opened with the latch retractor.

Locking (in both directions)
Lock the door with the key. Turn the key all the way to the lock stop in order to lock completely. This puts the lock into home position.

Switch function B

Fittings: Interior handle/exterior handle
For doors which must be secured against unauthorised opening from outside at all costs. The door can only be opened with the handle against the direction of escape once it has been unlocked by key only.

Emergency unlocking (in direction of escape)
Opens the door from the inside using the handle.
The door may only be opened from the outside once the key has been turned all the way to the release stop and the handle has been actuated.

Function from the inside:
Turn the key all the way to the release stop and actuate the handle.
Note: The door can be passed through from both sides!
Function from the outside:
Unlock with the key, then actuate the handle for the latch retractor.

Passage function D

Fittings: Interior handle/exterior handle
For doors which must enable temporary passage from the inside AND outside. Once the fitting has been actuated from the inside, the door can also be opened from the outside, such as for emergency personnel and/or retreat against the direction of escape. The door must be re-locked with the key in order to prevent it from being opened from outside.

Emergency unlocking (in direction of escape)
Open the door using the handle.
After that, the door can be opened from the outside and inside (for first-aid and emergency personnel.

Opening(a locked door with a key)
Function from the inside:
Turn the key all the way to the release stop and actuate the handle for the latch retractor.
Note: The door can be passed through from both sides!
Function from the outside:
Unlock with key and actuate the handle.
